Surgical Weight Loss
Is it time to change your life?
If you're experiencing difficulties losing weight and keeping it off,
bariatric surgery may be an option for you. Look to North Vista Hospital
to help you achieve healthy, long-term weight loss. In addition to reducing
overall body weight with bariatric surgery, we help you improve overall
body composition, which is a healthy ratio of body fat to muscle tissue,
to ultimately improve your health and quality of life.
North Vista Hospital is accredited by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery
Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). The surgeons
associated with our program combine expertise, personalized service, and
advanced techniques and technologies including:
Roux-En-Y gastric bypass – A small pouch is separated from the top of the stomach and sealed with
staples. The small intestine is divided and attached to the new stomach
pouch allowing for digestion to continue. While your intake of food is
dramatically limited and you will experience a sense of fullness more
quickly, the food you eat is digested and absorbed quite well.
Sleeve gastrectomy – Also called a gastric sleeve, this procedure involves dividing and stapling
the stomach vertically. This removes about 85% of the stomach and the
remaining pouch, or sleeve, is about the size of a banana. It restricts
the amount of food you can eat and allows for normal digestion and absorption.
Revision weight loss surgery - While a single surgical weight loss surgery is often sufficient, some patients
may not achieve the desired results from one procedure. Our center, in
conjunction with your surgeon, can help you reach your weight loss and
lifestyle goals through a variety of available revision procedures.

What is your body mass index?
Body mass index (BMI) is a mathematical formula of height and weight, and
is used to determine if a person is underweight, at a healthy weight,
overweight or obese. Determining your BMI is an effective way to consider
if your weight puts you at risk for serious health issues, including Type
2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure or sleep apnea, just to
name a few. If you are facing health risks due to being overweight or
obese (BMI of 30 or more), please call 1-877-921-WELL (9355) or
